PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico, October 8, 2009 – The
action of the III NORCECA Beach Volleyball
Circuit started on Thursday at the stadium
located in Puerto Vallarta’s Unidad Agustin
Flores Contreras Sports Complex.
Today’s activities consisted of an elimination
round to allow more Mexican teams to compete in
the event and the duos from Colima, Veracruz,
Sonora, and Jalisco were able to get a nod for
the competition.
In the women’s category, six duos competed and
the ones to get a pass to the Circuit were
Vanessa Virgen and Polett Cruz from Colima, in
addition to Rosario Reyes and Xitlali Herrera
from Veracruz.
In the men’s category, Tomas Hernandez and
Salvador Frias from Sonora as well as Jalisco’s
Malik Colossio and Arturo Gonzalez also secured
passes to the event.
Fourteen men duos and twelve women duos from
several American Continent countries are
expected to participate in the tournament.
In the evening, there was a technical meeting
where the directors and all the players came
together to address different details of the
event.
At this meeting the following officials were in
attendance: Javier Bravo, Puerto Vallarta’s
Mayor, Nelson Ramirez, NORCECA Delegate,
Valentin Yanes, COPAG’s Assistant Technical
Sports Director, Mayra Huerta, representing the
Mexican Beach Volleyball Federation, Cesar
Macías, Director of Sports Development for
Puerto Vallarta, Arnaldo Sánchez, Competition
Director, Miguel Ramírez, Referee Supervisor,
Víctor Figueroa, Medical Delegate, and Laura
Amaral, Director of the Larx Promotions Agency.
